The client came with a pre-determined design sought from a local garden designer, specifying a brief which was focused on outdoor living / entertaining spaces alongside areas for relaxation and leisure.

As the designers first choice, we would ensure the build met the high standards of the client. It was important to ensure the client’s needs were considered at every stage. This combination guaranteed the delivery of a garden that surpassed their expectations.

The client had a keen interest in using sustainable materials within the project, and due to the diverse elements throughout the design, and technically challenging aspects within, this was taken into careful consideration when choosing products within the build.

Before embarking of this project, the client had an awkward shape garden for which they couldn’t envisage how to turn it into a usable space.

The boundary consisted of a large unsightly retaining wall and a combination of post and rail and closed board fencing.

The ground behind the retaining wall and the land level of the field were considerably higher than the existing garden level which meant it often found itself flooded due to water run-off from the high ground. The drainage wasn’t helped with the heavy clay soil of the existing ground.

This unkempt field, full to the brim with weeds and brambles encroached into the garden overwhelming it so plants were engulfed before ever having a chance to thrive, therefore planting was sparce within the existing garden.

Before embarking on the build fully, we had to answer the issue with the water run-off from the adjacent field. The water had caused the garden to flood up to a few inches in some parts and had to be resolved, before any works could take place.

The soil was a heavy clay which was not conducive with good drainage however the main issue was a broken water pipe right next to the property in the adjoining field.

We embarked on replacing the section of pipe, and erected an outdoor kitchen within this area to ensure any runoff would be met by the addition of a retaining wall for the outdoor kitchen. New hedging and narrow drainage channels within the paving helped to alleviate the problem.

This project required the use of sustainable, high-quality materials throughout, therefore, if any materials reached the build were substandard, or not up to the expected level of quality and condition, they were sent back. This was especially true when receiving the oak timber frames.

Both the awkward shape and tight access of the build gave its own challenges when selecting machinery and tools to use, as well as how to transfer materials into the garden itself. There was no room for heavy plant therefore the use of micro diggers and moving the materials by hand was the only available solution.

Biblical rain, and horrendous weather conditions impacted the project dramatically. We resolved this by wearing good quality waterproofs. Mother nature did not stop progress.

Our client described the finished project as an ‘enchanting garden’ which ‘exceeded their expectations’.

We are very proud to have delivered a multi-functional build using sustainable high-quality materials throughout, resulting in a highly finished, elegant living and entertaining outdoor space which meets the clients brief perfectly.

A newly seeded lawn, bespoke outdoor kitchen and contrasting ‘Trendy Black’ porcelain patio areas delighted the client, who was craving spending weekends mowing the lawn and entertaining friends and family.

Our clients insistence on using sustainable materials led to our sourcing slate from obsolete snooker tables to repurpose as work tops for the outdoor kitchen as well as relaying sandstone paving repurposed from the original garden. This project is fully in line with our company’s ideal which is to create innovative, sustainable builds, which focuses on how clients interact with their outdoor spaces.

What was once an uninviting and bleak garden, our client now has a garden which is fully functional, usable and aesthetically pleasing. The ‘Luxury Hydra Argen DesignClad’ water feature wall and English oak timber structures adds to the elegance of the build. New mature planting and hedging creates an instant impact and compliments the rural location of the property.

The high standards and skilled craftsmanship of our team are on show throughout the build and with passing neighbours praising the tradesmanship and positive impact the garden has had to our clients lives has been the ultimate compliment.

The build involved installing a oak framed walkway leading into the outdoor kitchen. This was skilfully built using 20mm oak dowels to ensure the joints of the timber did not move, adding to the high-quality finish to the structure.

As a key feature of the build, the bespoke outdoor kitchen was crafted using repurposed ‘snooker table slate’ as worktops alongside under counter storage units, with doors installed with a handleless opening system to give a seamless look to the frontage of the kitchen. This continues the impeccable eye to detail, and quality craftsmanship which can been seen throughout the build.

The lighting scheme was designed to provide the garden with a gentle illuminated, atmospheric setting, which the client requested when entertaining in the evenings. Additional lighting was strategically placed in order to highlight the main features of the garden.

All soil supplied for the planting beds was imported due to the existing poor quality clay to ensure the planting will thrive and the garden is allowed to naturally flourish for years to come.

Throughout the process, we tracked the builds progress on our social media as it came to life. Videos were posted throughout the project updating, and hopefully inspiring, followers for their own garden build in the future.

Will and his team created a wonderful, enchanting garden for us, even better than we imagined. We had a garden design drawn up which Will discussed with us at length. We made various additions and changes. On every step of the journey form then on, Will would explain what he and the team were going to do, checking we were happy with the plan and also discussing any possible alternatives. He brought us samples of materials to be used and sought our opinions as well as advising us. Will also put forward some of his own ideas. He was very helpful and listened carefully to what we wanted.

The team worked really hard, were always courteous and respectful to us and our neighbours. They worked on our garden throughout the dreadful rainy months from October to January. They worked on through some dreadful conditions. We were always kept advised of delivery delays or if they would be working different hours on certain days. They were very reliable and consistent which we really appreciated. At the close of play each day, they tidied up and washed down the patio/drive etc as necessary.

The end result has exceeded all our expectations and we are absolutely delighted. The garden is like an extension of our home and we will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.
